Daniel Lozakovich - Tchaikovsky (CD ALBUM (1 DISC))

After his triumphantly received debut album for Deutsche Grammophondevoted to J. S. Bach's violin concertos, the young Swedish violinist Daniel Lozakovichnow delves into the Tchaikovsky repertoire. "None But The Lonely Heart" is a veritable Tchaikovsky treasure chest, presentingthefamous Violin Concertoand other romantically melancholic orchestral and solo masterpiecesby the great Russian composer. For this album Lozakovichhas been working again with Vladimir Spivakov. The conductor enabled the young violinist to give his solo début. It took place on 21 May 2010 in Moscow's Svetlanov Hall, where the amazed audience heard a barely nine-year-old boyplay the Méditation, from Jules Massenet's opera Thaïs. The recordings on this album were made in the same venue nine years later, again with the Russian National Philharmonic under Maestro Spivakov.

This album also includes several new transcriptions of music pieces that had a great impact on Daniels artistic development:"None but the Lonely Heart" from Romance op. 6, "ValseSentimentale" op. 51, "Valse-Scherzo" op. 34, the "Méditation" as well as the "Mélodie" from Souvenir d'un lieu cherop. 42 and "Lensky'saria" from Eugene Onegin, in an arrangement for violin and orchestra that derives from a transcription by Leopold Auer. Daniel says: 'That was the first opera I fell in love with. Lensky'sAria truly inspired me, and I felt I could express it on the violin'.

To Daniel, its Tchaikovsky's beautiful melodies that make him a very unique composer: 'They captivate everyone's hearts and minds. After hearing Tchaikovsky you often have the music in your head for hours, or in my case for days. That's his speciality. What he couldn't say in words he said with these melodies of genius. I feel truly great when I play Tchaikovsky, especially in concert, because you can really openyourself up. That's the strange thing: Tchaikovsky couldn't open up in real life, but always in his music'.
